07. Truth above everything. A washed black t-shirt with a deliberately frayed hem that carries the house motto like a jersey number: EMETH means truth, and here it comes before everything else.
On the front, a single block centered on the chest. At the top, a gold crown above EMETH PARIS, and on the right a gold crest with the initials EM. Then Emeth in a large gold handwritten signature, LA VÉRITÉ AVANT TOUT between two rules, five stars, and a very large 07 in white varsity numerals outlined in gold. At the bottom: TRUTH ABOVE EVERYTHING and the mention EST. 5775. On the back, at the top, the gold crown, EMETH in white capitals and PARIS in gold; the rest of the back is plain.
Truth above everything
Emet (אמת) means truth, and it's the name of the brand. The Torah makes it a rule of conduct: “Keep far from every false word” (Exodus 23:7). The Sages note that the word is written with the first letter of the alphabet, the middle one and the last: truth holds from one end to the other (Jerusalem Talmud, Sanhedrin 1:1). That's what the printed motto says, in French and in English: before style, before image, before other people's opinions, truth.
To go further: Emet, why truth is the seal of the world.
Why 07
Seven is the seventh day: Shabbat, the day you stop and only the essential remains. The number is worn here like a jersey number, in the style of American college uniforms. The mention EST. 5775 counts the years according to the Hebrew calendar.
Why this piece
-
The house motto, in two languages, on the piece that bears its name.
-
A dense but readable design: only three tones, white, gold and washed black.
-
A vintage washed black, shaded with charcoal grey, different from one piece to the next.
-
A raw hem, frayed and ripped in places: it's the intended finish, not an accident.
- Crew neck, short sleeves, loose fit.
-
Printed front and back, flat: the gold is a matte ink, with no foil or relief, no embroidery.
-
From S to 2XL, made to order: no dead stock, no overproduction.
Color
One color only: washed black, white and gold print.
How to wear it
With black trousers to let the print speak, or light washed jeans to push the vintage side. The frayed hem is worn out, never tucked in: it's what breaks the line. Under an open jacket, the 07 stays at the center.
The same design is available as a 07 vintage tank top, and the 07 returns on the 07 Paris varsity jersey. To see everything: the La Vérité collection and the men's t-shirts.
Care
Machine wash at 30 °C maximum, inside out, with dark colors. No tumble dryer: air dry. No bleach, no iron on the print. The raw hem keeps fraying a little over the washes: cut a loose thread, don't pull it.
Size guide
The fit is loose: take your usual size. If you're unsure between two sizes, compare with a t-shirt you already wear using the size guide.
